Conflict of interest animation

When public sector workers do their jobs, it's important any decisions made or actions taken are done in everyone’s interest, not just for an individual worker’s personal gain.

Sometimes, however, public sector workers’ private interests can, or look like they might, influence workers' decisions or actions.

This is called a ‘conflict of interest’. All public sector workers are responsible for recognising where their private interests may impact on their work.

Watch this animation to understand more about private interests – what they are and how they may come into conflict with public duties.

If you are in Victoria and want to learn more about identifying and managing conflicts of interest, book a place in a Victorian Ombudsman workshop: https://education.ombudsman.vic.gov.au
